In the Analysis phase important issues must be decided:
Overall objectives What is the reason for creating the training program?
Examples:
To help sell a product or service To make staff more productive Existing training is not effective or too expensive Cut down on travel costs Cut down on customer support. Trainers are not available End users are located in many locations
Training objectives
Establish what training objectives should be met with this project. This is done by going into the learner’s world and finding gaps between what is and what should be. By defining this gap, you can determine what the content of the training will be.
Outcomes:
List of topics to be covered in the training. Skills that the users should learn/acquire Requirements that will have to be met
Target Audience Courseware is much more effective when it matches the interests and abilities of the learner. Things that need to be considered include:
Who will be the target audience? How to reach them effectively? What is their educational Level? What are their interests? What motivates them?
The content of the training? Existing content has to be evaluated to see if it will meet training needs. This might include evaluating:
Existing textbooks or reference materials dealing with the subject matter Existing courseware, documentation, or electronic media Technical manuals, help files or documents
By reviewing existing materials, you will have a good idea if enough materials exist to create a course or if an expert will be needed to create new material.
How will the training be delivered?
Internet Based Training CD-ROM Local Area Network
How will the training be evaluated?
Will the students need to be tracked and managed? Will reports need to be generated? What kind of tests will be required?
